Travel Route and Locations
We started our RV travel journey in the South Eastern area of Wisconsin with no set duration. Our goal is to explore as much as the US has to offer in every state, no matter how long it takes! The first route we are taking is across the norther US through South Dakota and Wyoming before reaching Oregon.
We have chosen this route because it has some of the most beautiful and well known national parks in the country. This area is also only accessible for a few months a year due to harsh winters and snowfall. We have read reviews about how life changing this area is with the marvelous views and unique tourist locations that we had to travel through it first.
South Dakota
From the iconic Mount Rushmore National Memorial to the unique Badlands National Park, there is no shortage of natural beauty to explore. Custer State Park also offers a place for visitors to see herds of bison and other wildlife roaming free in their natural habitat with miles of winding roads. Wind Cave National Park also boasts an extensive underground cave system waiting to be explored. Each park offers its own unique experiences and stunning landscapes, making them must-see destinations for any nature lover.
Wyoming
Wyoming will be our next state on the journey for multiple reasons. First, it is home to Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks which are well known for their endless natural beauty and wildlife. Our other main reason we are exploring Wyoming is because it has a rich rodeo culture, with events and competitions held throughout the state. Rodeos are one of those events where you need in person experience before grasping how amazing they can be. Rodeos provide a unique and real view into the western cowboy culture and lifestyle. We are going to be exploring Wyoming for multiple weeks as we continue our journey out to the West coast.
Montana
Montana is another excellent state for RVers to explore, with its breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. The state is home to some of the most well known state and national parks in the country, including Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. These parks have stunning mountain ranges, pristine lakes, and abundant wildlife we are thrilled to explore. There is also a wide variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, fly fishing, and wildlife spotting in these parks. Another plus is Montana’s vast open spaces and scenic drives provide a perfect setting for RV road trips because there are stunning views that can be seen while driving. We are going to spend multiple weeks at Yellowstone and Glacier in their dense nature and mountains.
