Hoopers RV Travels Across America
Meet the Hoopers
We’re Haley and Cooper and we recently decided to travel the US full time in our newly renovated RV! After getting married in June of 2023, we both wanted to travel more than what our current jobs and location allowed. We quit our jobs to spend this time before kids exploring everything the US has to offer! We are focusing on creating content to show others how beautiful, fun, and challenging this country can be. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel to find weekly recap videos, RV travel tips, and information about the top places to travel in the US!
After searching for many weeks and months we finally found our new home on wheels in the form of a 1997 Winnebago Adventurer! We found the new to us RV on Facebook Marketplace within a few hours of where we were living at the time. Although it needed countless hours of repairs and renovations, we were beyond excited to start the project! If you are interested in what all went into the RV, be sure to follow along here on our blog, YouTube, and Instagram!
Our Travel Plan
As mentioned above we are planning to travel through all 50 States and 63 National Parks. Our current route is heading out West from Wisconsin to visit family on the west coast. During this first route we are driving through 8 states and 5 national parks including Glacier, Badlands, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Wind Cave.
We are living in our RV full time which allows us to have more time than most who are making this journey. We staying at the above mentioned National Parks for multiple weeks at a time to make sure we fully embrace what each location has to offer.
One question we have received quite a bit is have we ever driven an RV before? The answer to this is very short and simple, no. However we recognized that thousands of people drive RVs and other large vehicles across the country every day and do not have issues with navigating. Although we are very inexperienced in the skill, we are both confident in our abilities to learn quickly on the roads!
Once we arrive in Oregon and Washington on the west coast we will be traveling south for the winter. Our RV is too old to travel through the northern states in winter, so the plan is to set up camp in Florida and Texas for a few months. Starting in spring 2025 we are currently unsure of where we will travel. We are discussing between traveling through Canada to explore Alaska and driving up the east coast to explore all of the states in that area. If you have other recommendations, feel free to message us on Instagram!
Our Goal
During the renovation of our RV we quickly learned that this is not going to be easy, so we decided to set ourselves a few goals. To summarize them, we are looking to embrace change, explore every area we visit, grow in our relationship, and show others great places to travel.
One of the biggest draws and challenges with RV life is how it is constantly changing. During our first route we are planning to stay in over 10 different campgrounds along with multiple Harvest Hosts and possibly even parking lots. We are going to do our best to embrace moving every time and looking forward to the next place instead of being sad from leaving the current site.
We are planning to visit some of the most popular destinations in the US during our journey. Because of this, we are hoping to explore as much of each area as possible without burning out. This will involve waking up before the sunrise to sightsee before work and staying out after sunset to explore after work.
The most important thing to both of us is our relationship with each other. We have both learned how highs and lows deepen a relationship and help people grow together. Because neither of us have done anything like this, there are certain to be extremes for both highs and lows that we will need to work through, but they will make us closer than ever!
Finally, we hope to show everyone how there is always something worth exploring. America has one of the most diverse landscapes in the world due to it’s size and we hope others plan on taking advantage of this in similar ways we are! From freezing mountain lakes to dessert sands and everything in between, there is always something new and exciting around the corner!
